A fishy end

Today was the final day of the holiday before commencing the long journey home. This morning I travelled to Oia again. I really enjoy just wandering the streets of this beautiful village. From Oia I travelled to Perivolos beach, renown for it's black sand. I have to admit I did not think a black beach would be much but it was stunning contrasted against the turquoise of the Aegean Sea. It was unfortunate that my togs had been packed away in my backpack for the flight to Athens so I could not enjoy the inviting waters.

After Perivolos I returned to Fira. I still had a couple of hours before my airport transfer so I just wandered the town. I was intrigued by a fish spa which involves putting your feet into a tank of water where a school of toothless fish eat away the dead skin. After countless kilometres walked and a couple of painful blisters on my little toes for 3 weeks I decided my feet had earned some TLC. It also seemed the perfect bookend the mud bath I had at the Dead Sea on the very first day of this trip. I must say it was an odd sensation. It was not ticklish but is hard to describe. After 30 min I must say my feet did feel good.

Back in Athens now waiting to fly back to Australia tomorrow.
