Arrived to my Athens hotel room at 4:00 am. Thank god it is my last late night flight, they are starting to take a toll. My on again off again battle with colds this trip is on again. After a late sleep in I visited the Acropolis museum. I have heard rave reviews of the museum but I have to say I found to a bit underwhelming. IMO, the Egyptian museum in Cairo, the Vatican museum & the British museum all all superior.

Spent the rest of the day getting lost in the streets of Athens. The map I have lists the streets in English but only the main streets are signposted with dual language names. Time & time again I had no idea where I was on the map as I could not match the street name. I eventually conceded the battle and just wandered which was great until it took me almost 1 hour to navigate back to my hotel.

One disappointment is the Parthenon on the Acropolis is covered with scaffolding. I understand it is the luck of the draw but it is disappointing nonetheless.

One highlight of the day was the food, gyros & baklava for dinner. So tasty and so so cheap.
