Hello Muddah,
Hello Faddah.
Here I am in
Dublin, Ireland.
It is very
entertaining
And they say we'll have more fun if it stops raining.

Well it did stop raining in the early afternoon. More about that later.

This morning I chose an indoor option and decided to view the Book of Kells and the old library at Trinity college. The Book of Kells is a 9th century Latin version of the old testaments written & elaborately illustrated by Irish monks. To be honest it is an old book in a glass case and not that interesting to me though I do not doubt it's significance. However, the real gem is the old library. Wow! Whoever would have thought that a library would look so stunning. I'm sure my cousin who is manager of Monash Law library would disagree.

When the rain cleared this afternoon I decided to visit the Wicklow Mountains National park and the old Glendalough monastery which are situated South of Dublin. I took a 1 hour walk through the Wicklow Mountains to view a couple of lakes. The walk was great even if the lake views were so-so. The forest is just so green. Next I visited the ruins of the old Glendalough monastery. The most interesting part was the old round bell towers that were used in medieval Ireland before they were phased out for the more traditional bell tower.

For dinner I had Beef & Guinness pie and a pint of Guinness. Yum. I really like Irish pub food though it is not good on the budget!
