The famed Blue Grotto, Capri, Italy

What a wonderful day! We joined Blue Star Positano for a full day excursion to Capri. We tried five other companies but none were willing to be flexible enough to wait a mere extra 15 minutes for our bus to arrive from Sorrento. We boarded a speed boat with two other passengers for the trip to Capri. A bumpy ride out there but T was fine sitting in the first mate’s seat. Once we reached Capri it was not long before we were swimming in the emerald green water of the famed Grottos of the region. Like the gutsy Amalfi Coast bus drivers, the captain manoeuvred the boat into the entrances of the grottos. The Blue Grotto lived up to its reputation – amazing azure colour but a total rip-off price wise, having to also endure the guide’s constant requests for tips. Landed on the Island at the main port and caught the furnicular up to the town and walked to see some of the great views and the Natural Arch. On the way back we walked through an exclusive shopping strip. Seems like in Capri you can either buy cheap trinkets or diamonds – nothing much in between. Rounded the trip off with another couple of swims in the Mediterranean before heading back to Positano. T loved sitting on the bow of the boat. T summed up the trip perfectly – it was as good as Disneyland!
